Fun side note… I bought it from the same computer store where I nearly bowled over Robin Williams in 1984 (Santa Rosa, CA). I was very aware of who he was, having grown up watching Mork and Mindy and watched one of his standup specials a LOT of times.

I was wandering around the games case, fixated on said games and noticed a person out of the corner of my eye right before slamming into them. And it was HIM. I couldn’t say a word. And he looked as if he couldn’t figure out this weird nerd and just moved around me.

I still think back on that day frequently enough.

The great granddaddy of fantasy 4x games, Master of Magic (1994).

Mind you, I’m playing a variety of modded versions of Caster of Magic II (native Windows), but it’s still crazy that a game that old is still being actively modded.

It was literally the first RPG I ever played… in ye olden days of 1982. I stuck with the series until the end, but haven’t checked out the remake.

If you still need/want Windows, get an LTSC certain. 10 is supported through 2028 iirc, and the IoT version through 2032.

I haven’t tried the LTSC version of 11 yet, so no idea if it’s worth trying.
