I’ve tried playing various Zelda games over the years but I’ve just never got into any of them. I’ve just started WWHD and it seems to suffer from the classic Zelda problem of having one very specific solution to a puzzle blocking off all progress, and not telling you at all where that puzzle/solution is if you haven’t already identified it! Also it tempted me with an open ocean of sailing and gave me some side-quest maps to follow, then when I tried to follow them it immediately turned me around and said “you can’t go this way yet”!

Exactly, create your own dopamine rush for completing the challenge, don’t let the machine blue-ball you!

Why? At least some people will want to do them, so if you don’t want to do them then just don’t do them!

I get your point, but that would also assume that shares in fidget spinners would go through the roof as soon as the kids who love them had disposable income. Laboured metaphor, but my point is people’s opinions change. On the other hand Apple don’t offer subsidised versions of their products for educational use out of the good of their heart, so clearly they see the value of exposing people to them early.

This has been their marketing strategy since the iPod. Also it’s the opinion of teenagers, so it really doesn’t matter (sorry teenagers reading this, you probably don’t have the money to be shaping the decisions of megacorps).

I’ve never seen an issue, so it either works or I don’t have any apps like that. Try it out, it’s pretty quick to check!

I found this fix for Virgin Media, might be worth contacting 3 (or their support forums) to see if they have a similar fix

Sorry for the late reply, your link tries to add the . from the end of your sentence to it and breaks so I couldn’t see your screenshot until I removed it. I notice you still have blokada enabled, have you tried switching it off completely and then enabling private DNS? I’m not a network expert but it seems like they could be treading on each others toes maybe.

That’s odd, it works on GiffGaff and Lebara for me, and for everyone else I’ve set it up for. Maybe an issue with your phone? Does it work over WiFi?

FYI you don’t need apps that pretend to be a VPN to block ads anymore, you can just go to Settings > Network and Internet > Private DNS and set it to something like dns.adguard.com to block almost all ads, no install required!

You’re glossing over a lot of complexity that the GrapheneOS team is doing for you

Not meaning to gloss over, it’s their hard work that makes it a nice experience! It’s always been the case that some devices are more moddable than others, comparing the ones that are simplest is the only comparison that really makes sense though.

As for users moving en masse it obviously wouldn’t be trivial, but the theoretical removal of side-loading wouldn’t happen overnight so there would hopefully be plenty of time for more solutions to pop up.

I’d say having a Pixel is the only real blocker, as unlocking the bootloader and factory resetting the phone are both a couple of clicks in the settings that anyone can follow. I remember the days of rooting and installing cyanogenmod on early Android phones and compared to that the process today is really trivial!

FYI GrapheneOS is trivial to install (you don’t need to do all that exploit and root nonsense you used to have to!) and runs entirely without Google Play Services (unless you want to install them in a less-invasive way, which is also officially supported)

Puzzles - no internet, no cost, no pay-to-win, no ads, no fancy UI, just classic logic puzzles!
