And yet we are surrounded by the bones of companies and projects that were killed by private equity.

This is the end of Nexus Mods. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but the cord will be cut the moment it’s not suitable for the new overlords.

They were much too big for my thumbs (going off the theme of the Deck in general being made for hands clearly bigger than mine). Too tall, too wide on top, and while I never had to deal with any drift - the deadzones suck to play games with. I keep a gamepad at my desk for racing and flying games and I switched it to a hall-effect gamepad about a year ago and I’ve never looked back. Potentiometer-based joysticks just feel like garbage in comparison and I think are inexcusable to use in a highend gaming product these days. I ended up using the touchpads instead for many things.

Poor ergonomics is actually a large reason why I sold my Deck. It is quite heavy and clearly made for hands bigger than mine, which made holding it for more than 20 minutes quite uncomfortable. Also the joysticks are just awful, awful, awful awful awful. Id say a hall-effect stick mod is basically mandatory.

“Load up and play” is a very loaded statement. When I tried it, about a year ago, it was a buggy, glitchy, crash-prone mess that ran like deepfried garbage.

This is what got me about the RTX 50 series cards from Nvidia. People with 4090’s getting upset at the prices and lack of supply as if they must purchase one.

I am largely happy with how faithful the remaster is, warts and all, but this is something they should’ve included as an optional checkbox in the settings.

Using generated frames so you can have an even faster frame rate of blurry and smeared frames and godawful raytraced jittering shadows.

Oh nice. New enemy types and combat mechanics! That’s something the game badly needed.

So what will it be this time? Massively overpriced? Zero stock? Burning power connector? Missing ROPs?

Maybe all of the above?

Those datacentres have to pay the increased prices too. More expenses, less profit, angy shareholders.

And it will tumble even more when Donald tariffs Taiwan silicon imports. And when the economic strain means Americans are not able or willing to dump several grand on a GPU.

Don’t have it although I am loosely interested in it, but not enough to spend the nearly $100 (after tax) asking price. Maybe when it’s $10 on sale or something.

Hot damn am I glad that I got a reliable 4080 Super last year. Looks like I’ll be hanging onto it for quite some time.

Hmm, let’s see…

  • Kernel-level malware. Check.
  • Missing features that existed in previous titles. Check.
  • Features will be sold back to you at extensive cost. Check.
  • Base game is $100CAD after tax. Check.
  • Upgraded versions are $145CAD and $190CAD after tax. Check.

I wonder why it has less sales.
