Expansions are usually cheaper than the base game. They usually offer less content and just extend on already known game play. This has been the case for every blizzard expansion I have seen released.
Do you think people will buy it at $100? Considering many avoided the $70 price tag for the base game in the first place.
Companies have fell in love with the cash cow systems. Gone are the days when a triple A game was a set price. Season passes, DLC, microtransactions are nothing more than milking schemes. The game also has a DRM attached to it, which is just spyware.
“Even as a frequent spender,” they said, “lots of stuff simply isn’t worth the price [anymore].” Just made me facepalm. Remember when game modding was a thing. There is a reason why they do not support mods in many games now. Kudos to the few games that still do.
Busy playing Shadow tactics: blades of the shogun ATM. I have Aiko’s choice already, but haven’t opened it yet. The series comes highly recommended in reviews. Blades of the shogun hasn’t disappointed so far. Just a very slow moving game that you pick up to fill in a bit of time.
I used to love the NFS series. I really wish they would remove that 3rd party DRM. It is nothing but spyware IMO.
I am spending more and more on older games these days. Every new full price game I have bought has disappointed me massively. I pumped hundreds of hours into Grim and the expansions for less than £20 in sales. Currently playing through shadow tactics: blades of the shogun. I bought that and the DLC Aiko’s choice for £8 earlier this week. There are a ton of these in the series, so i am set for a long time it seems.
My last full game price experience was Hogwart’s legacy. I have 108 minutes played. I reckon I have actually played 15 minutes in that. The rest was just video after video of story telling. I am normally someone who skips cutscenes, so this is a really bad match for me. Hogwarts has an 84% positive rating. A lot of people like this sort of stuff, just not me unfortunately.
They won’t build older cards. They want the excuse of new tech to charge you more, even though the difference is minor. GPUs are starting to hit their limit much like phones have. There are rumours abound that we will not see a high end card in the next gen from any manufacturer. This is because they cannot justify the 4 figure prices to anyone except corporate. It will be interesting to see how they react once the AI market has bought what they need.
How big do they think the AI market is going to be? It is not going to compete with the consumer demand for very long. Chips last for years, so once AI chip is purchased it will be in use until the next generation GPU arrives. So yes the initial purchase may be predominantly expensive AI chips that will make AMD and Nvidia a boatload of cash. But that is a finite market, and TSMC make a lot of chips. Chips for industry have always be at the forefront of the cash cow that is GPU and CPU sales. Intel is also making an entrance for the low end.
I think I will be waiting a while. I have little interest in being gouged for no other reason than greed.
+1 from me there.
