This thread got me thinking Lemmy needs a better “find a co-op buddy” community for games in general. If it’s here already, could use better marketing.

Not sum’m I suffer from, but I want to see y’all living your best lives too. A good homie can make or break a game run.

Bro, preach. Definitely only need a quick clip for like, where is this item hiding in Elden Ring?

Maybe helps that I still have a solid squad of irl mates I game with, but also don’t mind catching solo time on single players.

I was dead fucking wrong about twitch tho. When it first came out I was like “who the hell is this for, younger siblings?” Like, why wouldn’t you just play the game yourself? Figured there’d be a lil niche for e-sport pro level scene, but twitch got way bigger than I ever would’ve thought.

Saying all this as a mid-thirty dude who truly will never comprehend people who spend a bunch on twitchy

Oooh maybe just inspired my next run.

But lol I should go finish the first… Took too long a break and now I’m all “wtf was I doing” when I load back in.

Was always such a big fan of this studio. Sotc is one of the greats.

Might’ve just been the glass slipper my hands needed then. Felt like a peak optimization of the sony layout, least in my mitts.

I know several folks who prefer the offset Xbox style, but I always appreciated the more symmetrical design of PlayStation. Thumbs were same height on controller for FPS or fighting genres, which I did a bunch of back then. Didn’t mind offset thumbs for other games like God of War. I think the designer in me also appreciated sony’s cleaner aesthetic as well.

Back in the day, I think it was Logitech or similar who redesigned a PlayStation controller with some minor ergonomic tweaks. It was a masterpiece. This was back in maybe PS2/PS3 era.

Sounds see if any modern versions exist. I’m still a Sony controller purist, having never really fallen in love with Xbox like so many others.

Such a childish take expecting AAA speed from tiny homebrew dev teams imo. Obviously progress is going to come slower in most instances, they don’t have a tiny island nation’s worth of man power to throw. That and, I’m sorry, if my homebrew passion project blows up stupid big when I go for early access for seed money / water testing, I promise you I will be taking time off to celebrate the accomplishment.

This shit is a grind. Lots of dedication over a long period of time. Go on, hit that resort life for a minute, you earned it. Come back and finish up when you get some r&r. 🤙

Obviously still expecting progress down the line, but if I’m supporting early access I know what I’m getting into. Indie scene is where the love is, but it’s ma & pa shit. Plus there’s thousands of other ways to waste my time, I’ll check back in later if I’m bored with the game’s current build.

Waiting sucks, but chill. Save outrage for where it really matters, like genuinely shitty devs. Juuust my pocket change. 🙌

Because this is the Elden Ring DLC Hype Train, and we’ve given he courtesy enough. Homie should leave his foolish ambitions to rest.

Haven’t had a chance to hit em yet but excited to. Felt okayyyy if you were patient enough to play it slow. My problem in general is being greedy and trying to speed through, which usually does more harm than good.

Yeah Trial of Haste felt like a nonstarter for certain builds that weren’t minimaxed for DPS. Nearly had it once, being maybe 10s off the mark (which realistically means I could’ve had it) but not mad about the rework at all.

Hades 2 been hitting for me. Nice being able to feel like playing Hades for the first time again. Super Giant doesn’t miss.

Cross play would be sick – had a friend go ps5 instead of build a PC due to limited budget. Tried my best to say saving for PC will be way better in long run but here we are.

I really gotta hit Outer Wilds. Comes up enough I’m beginning to feel embarrassed for having missed it thus far

Can confirm, impressive game, especially considering the solo dev. I seem to be shit at early army building. I think it’s too easy to leave on FF for too long 😂

Finally getting the hang of it. Caught my first couple wins. Very fun building broken decks. So much more Balatro to play.

Definitely intriguing. Partially in awe of this labor of love. Tiny Devs successfully competing with AAA is mighty impressive. Haven’t really been big on city sims but must admit this has me curious, especially with the banner lords looking big troop combat biz.

Miiiight have to hop on the band wagon to see what the fuss is about.

I gotta dig back into my first run. Was having a blast but hit distracted when shiny new games stole my attention. It’s been… years since I was jamming on this. Tried booting up the other day and I’m so lost hahaha.

Nothing like coming back into an RPG after extended hiatus like “wait wtf was I doing?”

Excellent points, appreciate the write up. Better said than I could myself.

I will also note that in my personal experience phone was more of a hail mary when I’d be doing like a wedding reception or private party and needed a tune for client that wasn’t already in my USBs. When the tip depends on it, yes, I absolutely DJ with the phone.

As a DJ and audiophile in general, yeah I’m not thrilled on headphones using batteries and Bluetooth. I’ll give up my hard-line when I’m dead.

Sure, some wireless for exercise or casual use is fine. Full deal breaker if I’m performing though.

Lol amazing! That was such a bizarre movie. Those fleshy controllers with the nipples are so unsettling.

Played hard for a couple weeks but got bored kinda quick. Feel like I wish there were, idk, more things to do or story to unfold.

Was playing in a buddy’s server initially so maybe part of losing interest kinda quick was not wanting to run all the early game again solo.

Is controller really that much better? I was skeptical when I heard my peeps were playing on compy with sticks.

Time to roll up a couple new characters! Currently grinding up a witch bitch. Kinda want to do a Metal Gear Solid Snake build that focuses on sleeping peeps.

Hit me with your favorites FUN builds, ideally viable for PVP!

Obviously early as hell, any idea what level one should be for DLC content?

Flying taxi game? I saw some pretty mixed feedback on that which turned me off from checking it out

I can definitely excuse some lack of polish and bullshit. Curious to see if the story is easier to follow – usually need to watch those vaatividya clips for the lore breakdown

Yeah, definitely gotta hit it soon! Add Demon Souls to that list too. For a moment I forgot all about it!

Finally got bit by Slay the Spire. Definitely see why my buddy was tossing hella hours on it. Always enjoyed rogues and deck builders so I’m not sure why I was slow to hop on.

Cleared the first 3 heros, just trying to get the hang of the 4th now so I can get all runs cleared once. Biggest issue is my impatience – always notice a better combo after I finish the turn!

Pretty enjoyable. I think I need to go back for the finish. Nasty habit of getting 80-90% then wandering off to something new.

But yeah it’s a goofy gameplay loop for sure.

One of the absolute best of all times. Truly a work of art. That remaster is kind a dream.

I need to get on that. Big FromSoft fan in general but haven’t hit the OG Souls yet.

Safe to assume you’ve hit the other Soulsborne games, and how’s it hold up comparatively?

Baldur’s Gate consumed a bunch of my time, but I’ve had on hold for a bit. Got obsessed with Armored Core 6 which has been a ton of fun. Bit biased though, played AC series growing up, big Fromsoft fan in general.

Most recently been hitting that Mario World Wonder on switch for quick casual time kill, then Predecessor on PC for scratching competitive PVP itch. Got so tense playing it the other day I managed to tweak a muscle somehow 😂
