For all the gripes I have for it, Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5). It’s really streamlined to the point of being auto-pilot at times, but damn if I don’t like seeing the weapon and overall world changes, especially as a Gunlance main. I just really hope they can get more of the “friction” back, getting multiple gems on the first hunt is dumb, wound popping devolves into stunlock, and autopilot-bird encourages not playing the game. But man do I love hunting and lots of systems and odd encounters encourage doing that in this, hopefully they can scale the rest of the roster like in Sunbreak.

My personal issue with the idea of “infinite NPC dialogue” is that it defeats the purpose of minor NPCs. They’re just there to give you a nudge in the right direction or give flavor text (“Bandit activity sure has been picking up!” or “The king? He’s probably in his castle to the west.”). Turning them into a chatbot just means a player potentially spending all their time there with nothing to gain that they couldn’t get from Character.AI instead of playing the game.

I’m also curious about the implementation. AI API use isn’t free so you’d likely be requiring players to pay if they don’t meet the hardware requirements to host locally.

If it clicks with you Monster Hunter (World+Iceborne’s a good starting point) can easily eat up hundreds of hours of your time grinding and doing endgame content, especially if you have a group to play with.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, I’ve seen a similar up/downvote ratio in gaming posts for some reason, even for newly announced trailers. No idea why. Tends to improve over time, though, keep it up! Always enjoy seeing these posts.

Really wish Sony would just allow DS4s to be used for PS5 games.

That’s what I thought it was going to be from the initial trailer, but then seeing it was yet another hero shooter made me lose all interest.

I’m really hoping they somehow held onto the master tracks, Tony Jay’s voice is irreplaceable. Hell, a big part of this series is the voice acting, if they could use the original takes not compressed that’d be the best case scenario.

Shmup: R-Type Delta, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them.

Run ‘n Gun: Gunstar Heroes, love the weapon power up system and its co-op.

I mean we got a legit Sonic visual novel last year, it’s not without precedent.

Main thing that impressed me from watching a roommate play and reading up stuff later was just how much your choices could affect the story and characters in comparison to other games. Otherwise yeah, pretty janky experience but gets credit for trying something different.

Man, when FFXVI is good it’s so damn good, it’s just a shame the side content felt so low budget in comparison. Really enjoyed my time regardless and curious how it shapes up once the major DLC expansion releases.

Tunic, such a great combination of classic Zelda with puzzles and mechanics that keep evolving in crazy ways, felt similar to FEZ by the end for the true ending. The manual mechanic is one of my favorite ones in a long time.

Only been tuning in these past few years for Elden Ring news, assuming the DLC gets shown I’ll just stick to summaries after.
