If you’re on Android 14 QPR3, Google recommends “you move to Developer Preview 1 now.”

Otherwise you may run into time periods where the Android 14 Beta will have a more recent build date which will prevent you from going directly to the Android 15 Developer Preview without doing a data wipe.

That makes sense. I was just shocked when I was comparing the two online. It seemed wrong which is why I wanted to post and see what others thought

Very surprised with the results and wanted to get a better understanding if that’s true in real life.

I am not sure if I am reading this correctly. How can the Pixel 7 Pro have 25% larger battery capacity and be technically worse than the base S23?

This is truly some great advice. You can get a great phone for so much less this way. There aren’t many features worth buying the newest phone for anyway. Just enjoy the discount for a phone that’s a year old.

That was what I was asking. Thank you! I didn’t know it was available yet.

What are the odds this gets back ported to the Pixel 6 and 7?

Is sponserblock on the standard Firefox or is it on the nightly builds still?

Has anyone tried Swappa? Any luck there?

I personally think they do it to sell more phones. They could support their phones for much longer as evidenced by Lineage

Liftoff is great! I am loving it myself

Yeah this just hit me too. It seems so obvious now

What do you use then? It seems like all of the major providers have ads

I appreciate the insight. I have that same feeling with Google. I want to like their phones and I appreciate the cleaner OS, but Samsung is doing so well lately it’s hard to debate. They have better battery, more features, and cameras that are comparable. It seems like they have a winning formula on their hands.

It is built into Android proper meaning most phones should be able to do it

That’s fair. What do you do about other devices? For example, if I pull up my laptop, and want to edit my calendar, where do you go? Samsung doesn’t have their apps on other non android devices, right? I guess that’s why I always defaulted to Google. If I ever switched devices or something I was synced that way.

Wow! That’s really impressive given the size difference of the batteries. You would think that the Pixel would have longer life even with a less efficient chip.

As time has gone on, I agree with you. Samsung has definitely grown on me over the years. Their software seems pretty efficient and light given the amount of extra features. Of course Pixel skin is lighter, but I don’t notice the sluggishness of Samsung Experience or TouchWiz.

Thank you for the very detailed and thoughtful response. A camera is important to me but the battery life is one of the most important given the fact that most other features are equal on both devices.

The real question is would a base S23 have better battery and brighter screen than a Pixel 7 Pro?

That’s what I keep hearing. I have also heard of battery trouble and overheating on the Pixel series.

Is the battery improvements that much better than the S22?

Wow! I keep hearing the S23 is the way to go when you want better battery life. That is the most important feature, I’d say

S22 Series vs S23 Series vs Pixel 7 series
Can anyone help me understand how close the performance and battery life is between the three phones? I'm in the USA so the chip will be Qualcomm between the Samsung models. My wife and I are trying to decide if we need the latest and greatest or if we should save some money. But, I wanted to know the trade offs. Any perspectives on how they perform, the battery, the features, the longevity would be greatly appreciated!
