Older Assassin’s Creed games such as AC 2 or AC Brotherhood could be a good choice.

Why AC Syndicate Is So Bad?
I recently finished Assassin’s Creed Unity and loved every minute of it. The story, the gameplay, the revolutionary Paris setting, the movement—everything was amazing. Even in 2025, Unity’s ultra settings look incredible, and I don’t think any other game has managed to handle crowds of NPCs as well as it did. Since I also love London, the Victorian era, and industrial themes, I picked up Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, thinking it would offer a similar experience. After three hours of gameplay, I can confidently say this is the worst AC game I’ve ever played. • Story? What story? We’re just running around punching people from the start. The first assassination mission barely had any dialogue—just a lazy “now it’s done” or something equally uninspired. It feels like they didn’t even try to write a compelling narrative. • Parkour is an absolute downgrade. After Unity‘s smooth and immersive movement system, I can’t believe how clunky and unresponsive Syndicate feels. It’s as if two completely different studios made these games, and the one behind Syndicate had no idea what made Unity great. • Why am I fist-fighting instead of using real weapons? Where are my blades, swords, or anything fitting for an assassin? I assassinated my first target with punches. What is this nonsense? The combat feels mindless and disconnected from the series’ core identity. • The world and characters feel lifeless. Nothing about the city feels as alive or immersive as Unity’s Paris. The characters move weirdly, and the world design just doesn’t pull me in. • Red-coated enemies everywhere, for no reason. Why are these guys constantly hunting me down? Where’s the logic? It just feels like lazy game design, throwing enemies at you without any meaningful explanation. I truly regret spending money on this game. It’s shocking how much Syndicate sucks after Unity. Did anyone else have the same experience?

Avowed made me scream to my doctor: “I am a wizard!”
I have a very bad case of disc hernia, and today, I had back surgery to fix it—somehow. For the last two weeks, I was completely bedridden, and all I did was play games and read books. Two days ago, I finished Avowed as a wizard, clocking in around 55 hours. I guess it stuck with me subconsciously because while waking up from general anesthesia, I started screaming, “I am a wizard! I am a wizard!” multiple times. I had no idea I was coming out of surgery, and I only realized it when my doctor said, “Okay, wizard, can you raise your leg for me?” At that moment, my brain went: “Wait, why is this NPC asking me to raise my leg? Oh… why am I in a bed? Oh… this looks like a hospital!” It finally clicked that I was still under anesthesia, but by then, everyone was smiling at me like, “Okay, wizard!” :)

No, I meant the overall depth of the game, not the depth of the combat. I don’t think Skyrim has deep combat —maybe I didn’t phrase it clearly.

I really liked Avowed. It’s the first RPG since Skyrim that gave me a similar feeling. I’m almost finished with it, currently 45 hours in, which makes it the first game I’ve played this much in the last five years.

That said, I agree that it’s a bit shallow, and the story isn’t as strong as Skyrim’s. The combat actually reminded me more of Horizon Zero Dawn than Skyrim. It’s not on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3 or Skyrim, but for me, it’s easily deeper than Fallout 4, Fallout 3, or Starfield. The combat is really fun and engaging—I played as a wizard, and it was a blast.

I have to admit, I skipped some dialogues toward the end of the game because a lot of them felt like filler rather than meaningful interactions. Still, I’d rate it an 8/10 and definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed Rise of Industry 1 and played it quite a bit. The second game looks very similar to the first one, and I’m looking forward to trying it soon!

In my experience, there are actually a lot more dialogue choices based on your skills, which I really liked—it makes me feel more connected to my character. So I’d say there’s more role-playing depth than Skyrim, but at the same time, the action feels better too.

I really enjoy the combat; it’s not easy, even on medium difficulty. If I’m not careful, I can die pretty quickly, which makes it more fun and engaging for me.

The only downside is that the world feels smaller than Skyrim. In Skyrim, I had this feeling that the world was endless, but in Avowed, it feels more limited. However, that’s fine—not every game can be a legend like Skyrim for me! :)

Avowed is the most fun I’ve have had since Skyrim!
I’ve played Avowed for 15 hours, and this is the most fun I’ve had in an RPG since Skyrim released. It might not be as good as Skyrim, but it has a very similar feel for me, and I’ve encountered zero bugs so far. I’m having an absolute blast! If you like RPGs, I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s included in Game Pass, so there’s no reason not to check it out!

I absolutely love Assassin’s Creed Unity! I just finished it last week, and in my opinion, it’s the best AC game ever. I really enjoyed AC1, AC2, and Brotherhood, but I can’t stand the newer RPG-style AC games. Unity, even in 2025, still looks amazing with its stunning graphics and incredible parkour. It’s one of the last AC games that truly makes you feel like an assassin rather than an overpowered RPG superhero.
