Good to know. I have a S23 I bought it half a year after launch but never really tried dabbling in buying a 1 year old android flagship due to the 3-4 limited OS upgrades (though that chagned).

Side note how long does your battery tend to last? Do you swap the battery at some point or take measures to limit battery charge (I’m not sure if pixel can do this but on samsung I can limit battery to 80%).

[Discussion] Buying a 1 year old flagship due to increased software updates (7 years).
Hi guys given google and samsung are now pushing for 7 year updates what are your thoughts on buying a new flag ship 1 year old. Example buying Pixel 8 pro instead of Pixel 9 pro or S24 instead of S25 etc. Assuming you buy new you wouldn't even really have to worry about battery degredation and processors these days are overspeced for normal day to day tasks. Just curious is this the norm or is their a hidden catch buying a 1 year old flagship?

Official Nextdns app (DNS over HTTPS)

Curious why do you use the nextdns app over optioin 1? Is it because your phone doesn’t support Android Private DNS or for another reason?

Also how is power consumption?

I never use wifi outside of my home. I have unlimited cellular data, so why would I bother?

Fair. I guess its more helpfull in cases of poor cell reception or traveling (though I guess this is a edge case in its own right).

Silly question how are you using nextdns?

  1. Android Private DNS
  2. Official Nextdns app (DNS over HTTPS)
  3. Via a third party app (ex rethink, etc)

Also how often do you encounter nextdns being blocked on public/coreperate wireless networks?
