So you like clones of 90s games lmao, that’s cool ill try a couple of those out but like a doom clone lile hrot is not goty2023.

But if two people are doing the same exact thing for the same exact reason

Sure, if we’re talking about small children innocently changing characters to be more like them, that’s a totally fair argument. But the context here is a publicly homophobic modder working for weeks to create a full mod to erase gay characters.

Yeah that’s huge, why pay full price for a buggy game when i can buy the patched/optimized version of the game for half price a year later??

Mobile games are so bad. Whenever i can i just use steam link to play something from my PC on my phone. The handful of good mobile games are all ports. If this means more good games on android, I’m all for it.

Well i hate watching movies so yeah i probably wouldn’t like AW lol

They’re not. Context matters. If i say you can’t back up on a highway, that doesn’t mean you can’t back up into a parking spot. Straight people have never been an oppressed minority, there’s nothing hateful about fantasizing about your favorite white character being black like you or something. There is a hateful history behind wishing all black characters were removed from a game.

It sounds like you don’t know anything about the economy complaints in CS2.

Bro if netflix offers me a few million to make my game exclusive, fuck you im taking that deal

Yes it will, it will literally change YOUR life.

Stop worrying about if a game costs too much for your liking based on what you think society should pay for it. Nobody is going to get sick or die because hades ios is a netflix exclusive.

On the list of shitty things society decides, this is not even in the top 1 million. If you want the game and dont want to pay for it, pirate it. Easy solution for each of us personally.

It’s not about boycotting, it’s about making a personal choice to allow something into your life or not.

What’s the lie? Netflix doesn’t give a fuck about you or me. They’re creating a list of games to provide their subscribers because they want to make more money. You want the government to pass a law that says they cant or something?

Our power here is to subscribe or not. That’s it, find another avenue to exercise control in your life if that’s not enough for you.

So then pirate the mobile version like the rest of us, this is a good news, there’s a native mobile executable of these games now, who cares if it’s a subscription or one time purchase??

Then dont subscribe, they’re not planning on making money selling to people who already on it on PC. Netflix is making it available to people who didn’t buy this on PC.

If enough people dont play it, they’ll lose money and they wont do it again. If a lot of people play it, then who the fuck are you to tell other people the right way to enjoy playing games?

I guess the instructions of a quest are just the tip of the iceberg. The goal of mario was just to go right all the way. The real design was the obstacles in the way.

Well yeah, the quest could have very simple instructions, but the actual map is designed so achieving the goal requires strategic decision making. I guess the hard is making it so the player self selects the difficulty that is the most fun for them.

Which I think is honestly a lot of players’ fault. Like yeah if you play an RPG, avoid all the sidequests and just go straight to max level as fast as you can, it’s pretty freaking hard for the game designer to make the right guardrails to force you to actually enjoy the game lmao.

I mean that’s a general argument against technology. Yes, more technology means more ruthlessly efficient abuse, but ultimately you think technology is better in the long run or not. Either way it is inevitable. Maybe in the EU they will ban those abuses, in China they won’t, and US will find some weird compromise between the two.

Sure, and they can have AI moderators in lemmy instances. Whatever problems are concerning about corporate AI admins also apply to corporate human admins.

I get that and i bough baldurs gate full price on release, but as the games start creeping up past 70 to like 100, it’s like for what? I can just not spend this money. It’s not like a car i need to get to work and car prices were skyhigh last summer and fall for example, or food, etc. If gaming companies cant compete on wages with other tech businesses that need programmers, they’re just gonna have to make do with less manpower. Long winded way of saying inelastic market.

Yeah but there were admins spying what you did and banning you. Quite frankly i have much greater trust in AI admins than human admins. Not that some human admins aren’t great, but why risk it? Same as self driven cars, as soon as they’re ready im ready to never drive again.

It’s not unreasonable but at the end of the day, we buy these games to waste time. There’s not a whole lot of justifying why im going to spend more on something i use to just unwind when i can buy plenty of 20$ games that will give me hundreds of hours of entertainment

Because you submitted a top level response, not a reply to any comment

I thought this article is about BG3, wtf are you talking about?

But general focus isn’t a specific legal term is it? Like what about gaming laptops? Isn’t that the same thing? I haven’t read the law so idk if it creates that specificity.

I mean what features are removed exactly? They have all the components needed to install windows/mac/linux and hook up a mouse and keyboard. I really don’t see any distinction besides they come with gamepads and a gaming oriented OS instead of keyboards and a more general OS.

I suppose, but that’s a different crime under a different statute Im guessing. (Tanking the company because gou have a scheduled sell, versus selling because you tanked the company.)

I just don’t think it’s nefarious, just sheer incompetence.

Distinction without a difference.

android has all those features, and most of the world uses whatsapp anyway

I think it’s a fair question that if both are transcendental games, which transcends over the other?

I mean yeah dude and bg3 is a brilliant effing game you saying it doesn’t deserve great ratings?

I guess, idk that seems less fun to me lol. And in CK3 you can absolutely be a vassal of a larger kingdom and fight (or negotiate) for your independence.
