Valve released two separate Proton updates for Linux / Steam Deck as they push forward to the next stable release with Proton 9.0. Most of the changes are fixing up regressions this time to get it ready for the main public release.
I just picked up TeS: Oblivion in the spring sale and had to revert back to 6.5 just to get it to run. Latest versions of Proton kept crashing to desktop after the splash screens.

Most of the changes are fixing up regressions this time to get it ready for the main public release.
Alan Wake, Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition, Total War: WARHAMMER III are playable again.
Placeholder videos now play correctly in Ultimate Marvel VS. Capcom 3 and Resident Evil 0.
Fixed mouse clicks registering twice in Warframe and TrackMania Nations Forever.
Fixed GRIS showing error window when exiting the game.
To change the version of Proton used go into the Properties on a game -> Compatibility menu.
