By the early 2000s, the icy reception to John Carpenter's The Thing had finally begun to thaw as audiences reappraised the film for what it truly was: a masterpiece of science fiction, horror, and suspense.

I played this on the original Xbox years after it came out and it’s still a great game. I can recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the movie or games of the genre. Some of the gameplay features were pretty ahead of its time.

This is one of my favourite games. When it came out I had the choice between it and GTA3 because I could only afford one. I chose The Thing and never regretted it. I must have played it all the way through a dozen times.

I don’t have a PC with a disc drive to play my original copy anymore, and it isn’t available to buy digitally anywhere, but I recently got the PS2 version working on my Steam Deck so I can relive the glory days.

Thanks, I recently rewatched the thing and the prequel, read the book and then I heard about this game and was really excited to play it, but it was so difficult to find that it didn’t seem worth it.

You’ve piqued my interest again.

Radical, thanks again. I thought the original version was American. It’s not?

I just watched the prequel again tonight. I really hope that someday it is appreciated more like the '82 film.

The Thing From Another World is worth a watch, too. I sometimes love the subtle humour in those old movies.

I agree on both points. I really liked the prequel watching it again, I thought it was great.

I did watch the 50s thing years ago when I first got hooked from the 82 version, but I wouldn’t mind revisiting it.
