Rules:

Maybe the AI has become quietly sentient and is the one planting suggestions in the humans in charge brains that we need more AI.
The only thing that is currently benefitting from giving the AI more power is the AI.
It’s starting to feel that way for sure! Would not surprise me if some form of AI has become sentient or already was sentient to begin with.
