“Elon, deep down you will always be cringe.”

You say that, but it seriously looks like cheating in and being bad at video games is hurting his reputation even among the chuds.

Maybe; but either way it means he gets to have more air-time and head-space.

Being disliked for someone trivial, such as being bad at a computer game, doesn’t really translate across to more important things. So that reputational damage is shallow and unimportant, but maintaining his position as being newsworthy is powerful and useful to Musk. So I agree with the other guy: better to not fuel these discussions about trivial junk. If you want to keep talking about Musk, then stick to stuff that matters.

A large percent of the population tunes out when you talk about real problems. They don’t understand them or don’t want to think about them. They’ll still have some fun making fun of a billionaire who so pathetically craves nerd cred that he’ll cheat at a video game. Now every time Musk does something, one of the top 3 comments, even in non-left spaces, will be people making fun of him for cheating in POE2. It exposes him as a sham and undermines the air of competence he tries to convey.

Is it stupid and shallow? Yes, but so are most people.

Ignoring problems doesn’t make them go away.

If it helps, one of the reasons the KKK lost power decades back was because Superman comics ridiculed them enough that people were embarrassed enough to be a part of them. Essentially, this is how you combat a culture war. Sad as it is…

I’m not suggesting that we ignore the problems. I’m suggesting that we don’t let trivial things, such as playing a computer game poorly, distract us from the problems. This post is not an example of behaviour that needs to be confronted.
