Previously: Re-Opening Edition
Let’s get started!
As you probably noticed by now, we added a few familiar faces on our mod team. People around LW should know the NSQ mod team very well by now, they are the best, and I’m very glad to have them around to help me out.
Say hi to them when you get the chance. They’re nice people.
Thanks to @[email protected]’s great work during our impromptu contest extension, we have a new banner! (And the trees are SFW this time!)
The banner and icon will be there until we collectively get bored of them. I’m thinking we’ll use the meat boy android as our new icon next time. Happy little accident, as they say.
To be honest, we reached that milestone a lot faster than I expected. So, let’s keep making this a great place to talk all things Android.
With that being said, I would like to do a little poll this time on your opinion, feel free to give your two cents on this topic.
I was never a big fan of reading Twitter links or screenshots being submitted as posts in the old place, as I feel they are kind of similar to memes in that they are usually low effort and lowers the discussion quality. The behavior exhibited by Musk in the newly renamed “X” company has not been great either.
It’s not really a problem in the community right now, but I’d like to hear people’s thoughts on what our policy should be on those posts just in case.
Welcome to the droidymcdroidface-iest, Lemmyest (Lemmiest), test, bestest, phoniest, pluckiest, snarkiest, and spiciest Android community on Lemmy (Do not respond)! Here you can participate in amazing discussions and events relating to all things Android.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
1. All posts must be relevant to Android devices/operating system.
2. Posts cannot be illegal or NSFW material.
3. No spam, self promotion, or upvote farming. Sources engaging in these behavior will be added to the Blacklist.
4. Non-whitelisted bots will be banned.
5. Engage respectfully: Harassment, flamebaiting, bad faith engagement, or agenda posting will result in your posts being removed. Excessive violations will result in temporary or permanent ban, depending on severity.
6. Memes are not allowed to be posts, but are allowed in the comments.
7. Posts from clickbait sources are heavily discouraged. Please de-clickbait titles if it needs to be submitted.

Twitter sources might be inevitable as that’s where many Android rumors/leaks come out first. So probably have them piped through Nitter before sharing?
(though Nitter seems to be having issues lately as Elon keeps fucking up the layout)
I would say the content quality is my primary concern and the actual site is a big but secondary concern.
Speculations and rumors are only interesting sometimes, but usually there just isn’t enough info for people to talk about them.
