I’m annoyed that Iizuka is probably right that pixel art only appeals to core audiences, because as a member of said core audience all I really want from Sonic is more games in the classic style. It’s like when the Final Fantasy producer, Yoshi-P, said turn-based combat doesn’t appeal to modern gamers. Like, maybe it doesn’t, but it appeals to me. :P
What annoys me is that they’ll still rinse franchises that are 40 odd years old like FF, but the gameplay is nothing like what the franchise is known for as often audiences don’t like it". Make a new franchise then.
They don’t want to make another game like the original in these cases. They often just want the money fans will pay for another in the series.
Everything went to shit since the money maker took over the entertainment industry.
At least once in a while you have a gem that pops up made by really passionate people and at that point you just cross your fingers that it won’t be sold to a large company.
