The rule is: DON’T

if a game was released too recently, or worse yet, it’s unreleased, use the Spoiler tag to wrap all the offending content in the body text, and don’t type any spoiler into the title. Properly indicating there are spoilers inside the post is very recommend too. Oh, and as suggested by some people, major story spoilers from old games should be avoided as well!

What is “too recently”? Basically, use your common sense for this one. If you think there is still a lot of people playing the game for the first time, then that is a good indicator that you shouldn’t be saying out loud that Darth Vader kills Dumbledore and things like that.

Thanks for your understanding.

Edit: and this new rule has already been edited, thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I’d like to add that it would be nice to warn about spoilers about very old games too. I don’t think that should be a rule, but just nice.

The whole “dude that game came out 30 years ago” argument doesn’t make sense because not everyone plays everything (and not everyone has your age).

Rules:

  • 1: No spam or advertising. This basically means no linking to your own content on blogs, YouTube, Twitch, etc.
  • 2: No bigotry or gatekeeping. This should be obvious, but neither of those things will be tolerated. This goes for linked content too; if the site has some heavy “anti-woke” energy, you probably shouldn’t be posting it here.
  • 3: No untagged game spoilers. If the game was recently released or not released at all yet, use the Spoiler tag (the little ⚠️ button) in the body text, and avoid typing spoilers in the title. It should also be avoided to openly talk about major story spoilers, even in old games.
