Recent Counter-Strike 2 Steam reviews give the CSGO sequel a ‘mixed’ rating, lower than Half-Life, Dota 2, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and every other Valve game.
That’s exactly my point. In order for CS to feel like CS, it has to feel 20 years old. Fine for the existing players but everyone else will be playing other games. I wanted to get into CS2, but it’s not for me or many new players, it only appeals to the old players. I played CS before source, it is exactly the same game still. No thanks. This was supposed to be a sequel, not a graphical update.
Keeping every other gameplay element, just adding modern map design and gunplay into the mix would be a fuckin sweet game I’d play the eff out of. It would feel like a true sequel to CS, not just the latest version of the exact same game.
Yes, exactly. I’ll play other games and so will many others. There are enough CS players still playing to make sustaining it worthwhile, but it won’t win over many new players when it feels extremely dated to play.

My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.
I was hopping ng for something a bit more modernized, like ADS for every gun, and larger, better maps. It still feels 20 years old.
If ADS and big maps is what you want then you want a fundamentally different game. Just play something else.

Then it wouldn’t be CS. There’d be no point playing it instead or something like R6

CSGO felt even more outdated and was still consistently growing
