Why are you mentioning Linux? I did not. Keeping this all with the context of using Windows, both Epic and GOG stores provide API access which proves they only want to compete but Steam demands tyrannical control and tell gamers want they are allowed to do while Steam maintains the right to erase a user’s game library without a refund.

Steam does and has deleted ganes from people’s library without giving refunds. People have developed a blind allegience to Steam either through ignorance or lower cognitive function, but Steam is between aburden and a plaque on PC gaming.

Did you read the court documents in the video? The simple fact that Epic allows API proves that they not tracking and datamining people’s information.

I have never bought a game on Steam. I will never buy game on Steam. It was a court ruling that made Steam change their user agreement, not Steam trying to be nice.

I have never bought a single game on Steam for this exact reason. I will buy from any game store except Steam.

The service on Steam is nothing superior over others. For people that want privacy but can live with DRM, I like Heroic open source launcher for playing games on both Epic and GOG, but Heroic does have issues launching Fortnite.

Are you saying that in relation to price? Because 4060 beats 1080 Ti.

Game developers should never use upscaling, develop everything at native 4K with 4K ultra textures, and for playing at lower resolutions the game can remove pixels for lower resolution. Similiar to how 4K recorded video looks better at 1080p than 1080p recorded video.

For framerate and GPU performance, we are now in the 4K capable GPU market and only getting better every 2 years. In 2026/2027 people will NOT require the top GPU for native 4K 120fps which means 4K GPUs are only going to get cheaper and cheaper, not for price but can start pairing a lower GPU with a 4K screen.

Upscaling is not available on older games, some of those are more popular in terms of favourites than brand new releases, and upscaling is inconsistent across games that have it.

The smoothest performance across a random 20 to 30 games will always be to only play at native resolution with no frame generation technology.

Am I alone in being completely in being against all frame generation due it it being simulated gameplay? I max out ever graphics setting but disable DLSS/FSR and play on native with a lower FPS.

On the contrary, I was going to ask you guys here, am I wrong to believe that there is zero interest in GTA 6? Or at the very least, people don’t care about a game that won’t be released for a year and a half?!?

Someone else mentioned it. I have never played Bioshock, I think I’ve seen it used as a benchmark. I look for military style games and I wasn’t sure if I should give Bioshock a try.

Thank you providing reasons for why it’s your favourite game.

I bought the New Order/Old Blood combo on GOG.

Prey looks really nice. Don’t you primarily play through the game with a sword, having a lot of required stealth kills?

Is Turbo Overkill an arena game in a single environment, as opposed to progressing through multiple levels, say, in like a military campaign?

I don’t like random creatures or space aliens, fantasy, Martians, I don’t like those games. I prefer real world military style. What makes Half Life so good?

From '97? It reminds me of Doom.

I see people rave about it. I tried Half Life 2 for an hour and quit because I lost all interest since there wasn’t much happening.

I have it, I have not played it through, only played half an hour to an hour, but I will trust you and play it through soon to give it a proper try.

Favourite FPS Campaign
What are people's recommendation for their favourite FPS single player campaigns that you still enjoy playing a couple of levels once in awhile? No multiplayer suggestions. My all time one is Medal Of Honor 2010 reboot. I don't play through it every time but I have a couple of favourite levels.

I would like to find a indie military first person shooter single player campaign but it is a massive struggle. I don’t like any space creature shooter games like Doom series.

It’s the coporatization of video games and demand that profits go up every quarter. It doesn’t matter if a game is not functional and does not run, everybody in the world must pay $200 for every single release that is ever made, plus $100 for DLC, plus $50 to change character’s appearanc.

It doesn’t matter if a game does not load, everybidy must still be gratful that they are allowed to buy it.

They service the same purpose as a driver, and FreeBSD has user added kernel modules, I forget if OpenBSD does but I’m hoping so.

This will be excellent if each BSD operating system can build and compile their own nVidia drivers from source.

The P3 was wonderful, I always wanted one. There was something about P4 that I couldn’t get into it.

The great ones were the last P3, Core 2 Duo but not Quad, and the first i7.

How does 9 or 10 games on sale qualify as “tons of great discounts”?

I bought a 4060 for the encoder plus gaming. I need both the best AV1 encoding and gaming performance, not solely gaming performance alone.

On your own personal system, what was you frame rate for Metro Exodus with a 1080 Ti and a 4060? Not looking at other people’s performance stats, on your system what numbers for 1% low do you get on both GPU’s? Have you tested the video quality difference for the encoder between NVENC on 1080 Ti and NVENC on a 4060? If so, which programs did you run on each of them?

Given the engineering differences, which title or application does a 1080 Ti beat 4060, and under what circumstance?

When any of the next series of GPU’s are released in 9 to 12 months, you definitely should buy a new GPU, considering the 4060 beats the 1080 Ti in everything.

How does the number of users online mean anything at all? Why would people care how many are currently online for Steam?

I’m in full blanket agreement you. Everything you said, I strongly support you.

The problem is not simple capitalism, because capitalism is how we have grocery store variety and clothes to buy. Gaming as been messed up due to all this IPO junk, shareholders, equity companies, I’m fully with you without exception.

I’m not sure if you are saying that the stock market has destroyed quality gaming, due to corporations constantly trying to cash in from obligations to stockholders, but that’s my position. The crass consumerism that have an unfillable hole that is in perpetual persuit of the next new game release. I blame the lack of quality individuals in society, how hollow people are that people have nothing interesting happening in life so their life revolves around the internet and blah blah blah online, rather than focusing on building a life outside without getting everything through a screen. Corporations have exploited how empty day to day people are.

What goes wrong with a person for them to get cheat software because they are so determined to win rather than either practice and develop their skill or accept the fact that they don’t have what it takes to win a specific game, and be comfortable with the possibility that game is not for them? The second someone attempts to cheat or hack in a video game, they have immediately proven themself to be a complete loser.

Kids must be the first priority, all day everyday. Games come when you have the time, and if you’re not able to play for 3 weeks, that’s how life goes as a good parent.

I have nothing to say about people who go out to places together sometimes also playing together in a game occassion, all fine and well.

Multiplayer with random whoever happens to be online at the time, that’s the stuff I call entirely useless and pointless.

Every and all people who can play games for a consistent 12 to 18 only have a screwed future ahead of them. 3 to 4 hours of games can be a great time, 18 straight hours of gaming, that person has emotional problems.

Would you agree that games are simple entertainment, not a goal in life, to one day get good a specific game for multiplayer?

As an exclusive campaign single player, I say every and all multiplayer is trash garbage. Games are strictly entertainment for something to enjoy. Winning is irrelevent, the experience is what’s important.

I only buy games that have a story campaign with replay value and I refuse to do any online multiplayer. I don’t feel better for beating other people, it’s nothing more than a game. People are not interested in how many times someone else wins at video games, it’s only a hobby. People who cheat in games are losers who have nothing outside, going out with friends to enjoy.

Given how the quality of new releases and zero new games being worth the price, I have not bought a new release in over 10 years, maybe 12 years. I can’t justify the price vs. what companies have been putting out.
