On 22 July 2024, Google announced that it is changing its approach to Privacy Sandbox. Instead of removing third-party cookies from Chrome, it will be introducing a user-choice prompt, which will allow users to choose whether to retain third party cookies.

Sadly Sci-Hub has not received updated articles in several years. Alexandra is waiting for the outcome of the trial in India. I don’t think it depends on what the outcome is, just that the trial needs to be over.

If you’re thinking of the EU, it’s probably just the vogonlike bureaucracy, so in about the time that Windows 12 comes out, they’ll be ready. Can’t say it bothers me, if Microsoft is attempting to take marketshare from Google, though.

Google is paying to have a search monopoly in Firefox, they don’t support it. I don’t believe those motives from Google exist or that they would have any legal impact. It’s pure business and the only consideration they have is if they can afford to have Firefox users use a different search engine by default.

This being just a Mozilla github issuetracker and 80%+ of Mozillas income coming from Google with the contract up for renewal this year. We’ll have to wait and see how much Google want this.

It’s called SeaMonkey now and AFAIK it is maintained and under community management.
