This seems to be Varjo's response to the Apple Vision Pro. Its significantly cheaper than the last headset, the Varjo XR-3, going from $5,495 to $3990 and also removing the $1000 yearly subscription. Here's a reminder that Apple initially developed much of their software for the Apple Vision Pro using Varjo's XR-3's and the Apple Vision Pro was going to undercut the XR-3 at a price of $3,500. It's also exciting that the new XR-4 is going to be allowed for individuals to purchase, instead of just locked to companies.

I’m pretty sure wacom drivers are just in the linux kernel, and also my XP pen tablet worked out of the box also. I haven’t noticed any weird problems.

Yeah that is real impressive, I thought we would be years away from the realistic meta avatars becoming usable on actual hardware. I don’t really understand what’s so metaversey about this though, Apple showed off the same concept with no ties to the idea of metaverses.

EDIT: I watched a bit more and hearing Mark’s ideas of the metaverse he wants honestly sounds very similar to the plans and sdk’s for the Apple Vision Pro. I don’t know if this is truly what the future will be, but it seems exciting.

I’m pretty sure they Epic bought Bandcamp for their battle with Apple and then did literally nothing with it.

The new demo for what? I have no idea what you are talking about. I’d like to think I know a bit about metaverses as a VR enthusiast.

I got the cartoon with text wrong because I didn’t know dalle-3 could do text. I got 12 from vibes of more detail? This assumption that AI does more detail gets a lot of actual humans. AI image generation is really crazy. The simpler stuff is pretty much indistinguishable from real human stuff at this point.

The only odd thing I noticed is the test tubes that look like they should be out of focus like the rest of the background. That is extremely convincing and idk if I would notice if I saw it out of context.

If you have an Alt-graph key you can type more glyphs by hitting it while typing a key. Ctrl+Alt also acts as an alt graph key. Shift also changes the glyphs. On windows you need to switch to the English International keyboard for the alt-graph key to do anything if you are on the English US layout.

you can get this glyph by typing Alt-graph+L
