Agreed, I really hated this description of PCs with only iGPUs or APUs since they are not “without a graphics card” almost all CPUs nowadays have some kind of integrated graphics solution, some better than others. It’s just that in the past iGPUs have been laughably bad, which is why many people have needed an external one.
I wouldn’t entirely agree, it’s shit because Google and Apple enable the practice by providing app Advertising frameworks and fighting back against people working against those systems (i.e. mobile ad blocking and app firewalls, either through store policy or public discouragement).
Developers are incentivised because advertising both:
Advertising basically takes away the need to sell stuff and allows poaching revenue from people even if they don’t want to support the app. I’ve known many Devs who will try to eek out more revenue by click fraud (auto clicking their own ads).
So I’m not really a fan of implying this is our fault or “devs gotta eat too”. This practice is very much corporate greed.
That’s true, but the way they cut up the larger map environments into smaller ones to fit it in the DS’ smaller ram and the DS’ poorer touch screen sensitivity really made the game significantly worse, if not unplayable to an extent. I don’t think I ever finished it because it needed me to draw something and the game just wouldn’t recognize the shape I drew as correct because of the awful touchscreen. It was basically soft-locked.
The lazy and poor plot was bad enough on its own but the technical problems I encountered were so bad the game was basically unplayable.
This is exciting news, Okami is one of my favorite games and it would be very nice to see a sequel for it. I hope they keep a similar if not the same artstyle as the original one. Either way though it’ll be really nice to have a sequel since as most people know, original left on a bit of a cliffhanger.
This should not be an Okamiden situation.
There’s no equivalent to the Nintendo DS these days, no excuse to make something that awful now.
I feel like Okamiden could’ve been a better game had they released it for the PSP instead of the Nintendo DS. They could’ve used bigger maps, better graphics, and still had somewhat decent controls.
You don’t even need instructions on betting, betting or wagering is something that people can figure out on their own quite easily, the behavior is often demonstrated in real life in other non-gambling scenarios “I bet ya can’t climb that tree”, so if we assume a game about playing cards can be considered gambling, than the assumption that Playing cards themselves would also be considered gambling materials seems plausible, but it is meant to highlight the absurdity of the situation.
And yet we have whiny idiots saying copyright encourages artists to create new works. Why the fuck would it when they can just rehash the same shit over and over and over and continue making money on them?
That assumption is based on assuming that profits produce joy and passion in a project. Something which is blatantly false if you look at any of the largest, richest companies in the world.
It’s because right wing people are simping for and sticking up for Israel, and the IDF. Notice how in the Article it’s LibsOfTikTok who’s calling out the game and encouraging its removal from Steam?
Edit: For people not in the know LibsOfTikTok is an alt-right American internet personality, and also apparently a news curator now. They push a lot of anti-trans hate and alt-right talking points on Twitter, and they’re probably a terrorist too.
Yeah I do remember those things, it was a cool idea, slightly janky at the time and their expectation for others to develop games natively for linux was a bit too bold, but it was very good for what it was. I will say that what we have with the Steam Deck and even unofficial Steam OS is way better in every way imaginable though. I imagine if Valve released Steam Consoles now, they’d be a smash hit, because as it is, there isn’t very much out there for people who are looking to get into PC gaming on a budget, and Living room gaming on PC is fiddly and clunky. SteamOS and Steam machines solve both of those problems.
It almost certainly won’t be like last time considering how far Proton has come and given the popularity of the Steam Deck. I imagine that a Mini PC home console with Steam OS from Valve would do the PC gaming market a lot of good since it would act as a stable piece of hardware for Devs to target and optimize for. Since as it currently is, PC gaming hardware evolves and progresses way too fast.
That’s why I say they should be AMD mini PCs, since Nvidia has issues with Steam Gamescope and big picture. Also the mini PCs with an integrated AMD APU are far more compact, more ideal for a Living room setup that’ll have to fit in an entertainment center, or even behind the TV in the case of Wall mounted setups.
This is awesome, hopefully this means we might get new living room Steam Machines in the future. That would be very cool. I know you can build your own by getting a cheap AMD mini PC and installing unofficial Steam OS on it but it would be nice to have the real deal with an official Steam OS version.
And while the other guy may not be a Russian (at least he doesn’t admit it) he’s still a pretty awful person. One of his most recent post replies is talking about how great killing LGBT people would be, and how he’d be for that since it would “destroy the LGBT in small parts” and somehow lead to “fully destroying LGBT”.
Not surprising whatsoever.
Game of the Year: Flock
VR Game of the Year: Picked a random one
Labor of Love: Journey
Best Game on Steam Deck: Flock
Better with Friends: Webfishing
Outstanding Visual Style: Flock
Most Innovative Gameplay: Flock
Best Game You Suck At: Picked a random one
Best Soundtrack: OneShot WME
Outstanding Story-Rich Game: OneShot WME
Sit Back and Relax: Webfishing
I mostly picked these because they were the only ones I’ve played that were released this year, or are Steam Games to begin with in general.
I picked Flock for Outstanding style because I think it has awesome visual style. I also picked it for best game on Steam Deck because it plays very well on Deck and I play it almost exclusively on my Steam Deck. I’ve also never really played a game like it so I feel it is a very innovative game. Hence innovative game-play nomination.
For better with Friends I picked Webfishing because it is honestly better with friends and isn’t as much fun to play alone. I also chose it for Sit back and relax because it’s a relaxing game.
I picked OneShot WME for best soundtrack and outstanding story because honestly it has an amazing soundtrack and story, even though it is a remaster of an old game.
I picked Journey as Labor of love because it’s one of the most beautiful games I’ve played.
The ones I picked at random are ones I haven’t played yet or even own, I just tried to pick ones that were on my Watchlist or that looked like okay games.
A large majority of Physical games have secretly been made as one-time activation keys, and aren’t really a physical game in any meaningful sense since most of the game isn’t on the disc. Physical games at this point are more of a semantic argument to distract people from the real question, when will online DRM and activation completely take over?
