I’m gonna guess they know that what they have will be about as bad as Starfield, and they might be fighting internally to make it not be that. If that’s the case, maybe they’ll get through to the rest and fix it. But they probably won’t.
Either way, nobody should pre-order it. Wait for reviews. If it even ends up shipping at all.
I know.
Most people see it. Few, except the opposition, point to it as a negative.
Partly because they become the opposition by pointing to it. Anyone bothered by the change regardless of their standpoint of taxes, regulation, and public services are labeled right wing and pushed to admit it. They might as well go vote for the billionaires’ cause if they don’t want to shut up about their problems with sensitive liberals, right? Right. So it seems that’s exactly what they did.
People don’t like people who tell them to shut up, sit down, and behave.
People don’t like people who get so offended that they kick you out.
That becomes a problem when you treat the majority like that, and not just a minority of very misbehaved assholes.
Guess why “The One Joke” became so prolific? Some creatively gay progressives desperately wanted to push the majority to comply with a set of new very strange expectations and taboos, and went about it in an incredibly obnoxious, reckless way. It became a huge meme because a majority, not an extremist minority, thought it was weird, ridiculous, stupid, overconfident, pathetic, and probably a whole host of other things.

You’ll never successfully change the world like this. This kind of language demonstrably does nothing for you. We all know you believe “the common clay” should shut up and speak through filters approved by you and yours. Fuck you.
You ruined the culture of the left. You changed it from the side of union men to the side of flamboyant, sensitive baristas. To the point that you lost a lot of the vote even from unionized workers.
Lose everything in the next 4 years.
You’d have to shut me up and push me out.
You shouldn’t, you’ve already lost enough allies. It has become very clear that cripples and hall monitors does not a majority make. I don’t believe in your ethical maxims of sensitivity and strict language policing.
I’m sure you think the celebrated George Carlin is a massive cunt, in duller words.
It would require them to individually custom animate every face’s 3D mesh to it’s absolute extremes.
If it were to be implemented properly it would probably have to be available only for the default skins and a small selection of popular skins. And that’s if they even have the tools ready to push facial animations like that at all, idk if there are limits to the current rigging that would need to be addressed, idk how they’d do it tbh.
I personally feel like it will be pretty easy to recognize whether different pieces of criticism are outright misogynistic, borderline, or not misogynistic.
I do think that if the story is getting called “too woke” and resembles Veilguard or Concord in tone, that’s actually legitimate criticism, separate from outright misogyny.
I tried to get into PoE1 with my brother and it was nothing but a boring slog of a grind.
PoE2 feels like a fucking game. It’s kinda great. The thin white ice things from that one boss (you’ll recognize it) was like “Wake up, I’m not a harmless damage sponge!” It feels like I’m playing a game, not trying to get to one at the end.
The controller support at least for melee is also great. Especially after Sony decided the PS5 controller’s Bluetooth function should work on PC.
That’s partly because it’s now more important to know what you’re doing, than figuring out what you’re doing, or just enjoying the fight. Unless you’re willing to just tank insults while playing, and rebuild and retry with constant leavers, you have to study. Usually people try, but often they sit back and give in to “experiencing” games through video instead.
WoW for example has almost no tolerance for flawed teammates anywhere anymore, I’ve seen countless groups that would rather sit outside a dungeon for hours, than be inside it for 15 minutes too long.
And people no longer think “if you want good teammates, you have to build a team”, they instead think that everyone who joins the random matchmaker has a responsibility to be good. It’s rude to be bad at World of Warcraft.
I think they literally replaced the game people owned prior, and removed features.
I definitely remember that they made legal language for it so if anyone made anything like DoTA out of it again, they’d own it.
Of course, the game was rejected by the community.
Edit:
…but was plagued by bugs, a lack of features and poor design choices such as the “massive” user interface. German magazine GameStar opined that the remaster was still a good game in regards to its single-player, despite it not including the promised changes and additions, but its multiplayer features were now either worse than before or non-existent.
Player response was overwhelmingly negative. On release, the game was review-bombed by users on Metacritic, temporarily becoming the lowest score ever for a Blizzard game, before being surpassed by 2022’s Diablo Immortal.

Is that really the smart thing?
I’m fairly confident that would be about as good for them as shooting themselves in the foot.
You have to realize what world you’re living in. These people and their agreeing friends aren’t just a loud minority, just yesterday they demonstrated something that really should have informed your worldview more than it seems to have, given what you suggest here. That kind of removal would be unpopular, a lot of people would drop Metacritic fast.
To an extent I agree with them, in that they ruined the tone of the game, but unlike these reviewers I personally think developers are allowed to make standalone slop. It doesn’t ruin anything I’ve bought from them before.
Finally by all reasonable accounts it absolutely is a woke, pronoun-conscious, DEI focused game. Those words wouldn’t even really be out of place if one showed up in a positive review.
You have to learn to think before you make yourself more unpopular.
I’m joking. The state of Starfield and what I’ve seen from deteriorating game studios are my reasons for the suspicion.
