in Sim City 2000 this power plant was unlocked in the year 2020, as usually the devs are always late to implement new important QOL features…

I remember that! It was my favorite power plant. And the disaster that occurred when the beam would go off course and fry the land around it was kinda fun.

This technology would be incredibly useful, but it is also going to be scary as hell. The distance between “we’re beaming all of this energy into an antenna to transfer power” and “we’re beaming all of this energy into a building to melt it to slag” is very slight.
