OK, i’m fully onboard with the take that Riccitiello made a bunch of the decisions that fucked Unity. I’m not one of the “the board of directors are the real problem” truthers. However,

Let’s not pretend this is accountability. The board wanted this shit. It may have been Riccosuave’s call, but we absolutely know those guys were on board. They aren’t punishing him. This isn’t accountability. They’re just furnishing themselves with an excuse to change course now that their underwear is full of shit.

100%

That dude wasn’t some rogue exec, he was in charge of Unity doing stupid shit for a long time.

Didn’t a bunch of people already short the stock before the announcement? I’m guessing he doesn’t care. It’s just the remaining board members trying to fix their image now (they probably got their cut too).

Nobody (that I know of) shorted, but Riccitiello and several other Unity executives sold shares in the weeks before the announcement. For at least Riccitiello this was part of a longer effort of selling, though, as he sold many shares over the whole past year.

If he got any kind of severance pay at all, golden parachute whatever, then there is no accountability to be found here.
