The slap fight between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has highlighted the absurdity of keeping so much of our space program and satellite internet infrastructure in the hands of a single oligarch.

Didn’t they already try with Conrail?

Conrail should have continued as the government owning the rail and letting the other railroads use the track. As in, Amtrak should have been the rolling stock, and Conrail should have been the rail. It was not a nationwide railroad, but that owning it was the right thing to do. Selling it was the wrong thing to do. The government is constantly spending money with the railroads to maintain the rail and do upgrades.

Noooo you can’t do that it’d be socialism! Which, as everyone knows, leads to the end of private property and therefore to nationalizing toothbrushes. How would YOU like to have to share your toothbrush?

We must also all share one toothbrush.
