The LoFone is marketed as a minimalist 'dumbphone' that comes with an economical E Ink display and completely dispenses with distractions such as social networks. Unlike most direct competitors, apps such as WhatsApp and Spotify will still be available.

I wish it did have a browser and social media. I love the look and style of some of these minimalist phones. But I do wish they made those sort of choices, choices the consumer can make. I just want a good eink phone, that’s it. I don’t need it to be a mostly dumb phone too

If this gets support for Signal, or any dumb phone + signal app, id buy immediately

You mean like the Punkt MP02?

The MP02 is the first voicephone to offer a downloadable privacy feature that uses the Signal protocol to provide free, encrypted Internet-based calls and texts worldwide via Wi Fi or mobile data (subject to data charges). We believe Signal provides vastly greater security compared to the widely-used encrypted alternatives, which exist primarily as tools for harvesting and selling valuable metadata (contacts lists, who communicated with whom, when it happened, etc.). In the Signal system, all metadata is encrypted.
By using the Signal-protocol, it is possible to add group messaging and voice messages to the MP02.

It says they support payments with the device, but if it doesn’t run android, so also no google wallet, did they actually develop their own payments platform?

And it has a replacable battery and headphone jack. What is this madness? Next you will be telling me it has an sd slot.

My only worry would be whether the software gets patched to fix security vulns and in reaction to breakage with 3rd party services (e.g. whatsapp).
