People say this game has not aged well, I only partially agree with that. Ps2 was my first 3d game console and I played this game on the wii virtual console, and I was just amazed by it. So much so that I thought I should try other n64 games too, but was disappointed at how awfully all of them controlled. This game really did set the bar.
I think it took a month for it to be polished enough. I remember this because it was when cdpr spun its upcoming patches into a great pr move by calling them “free dlc”. I think it was like 11-12 weeks of continuous “dlc” and Reddit was eating that up and dunking on other devs while praising the game to be the best game of all time. I legitimately remember post on Reddit showing some glitches in the game and comments saying something like “the game is glitchy, but at least it’s just funny glitches and nothing game breaking”. Also, first expansion came out 5 months after the release, so it still tracks that the game was patched up somewhat quick.
Jason Shrier pointed this out multiple times in his podcast. He HAS the insider knowledge and shares it when appropriate and he will still see Twitter folks just blaming DEI for the issues any game is having. Sweet Baby Inc is a good one because some YouTubers grabbed on to this company simply because it’s a DEI consulting group, and now it spread like wild fire and you will even see comments on Reddit and Lemmy blaming Sweet Baby Inc for things that no one really know what aspects they worked with and how much.
Neither of us said that people are ONLY upset because “woke politics”. Original comment is saying that those people are probably celebrating right now because they were “right” and I’m simply pointing out that whenever this happens, the anti-woke crowd think that it’s because of the woke politics. There are plethora of reason to be upset with Ubisoft, just like there were plethora of reasons to not play concord.
You’re dismissing that way too easily. A dual screen handheld was pretty game changing and not to mention touchscreen was not a standard back then.
