Bit of an oddball, I got the itch to finish Trauma Team on the Wii since I didn’t the first time, so I got a USB sensor bar and I’m playing through it on Dolphin!
I really enjoy the Trauma Center Franchise, bums me out they never made another one, would have loved to see what it would have looked like on the 3ds or a modern entry on the Wii U/Switch.
Cortana is amazing, the new Siri is smarter than ever, Google Gem—
Yadda yadda yadda, they’re all been promising these amazing personal assistants for years and they all sucked, now they’re promising they’ll finally stop sucking and surprise! Still haven’t.
We know your next Assistant is gonna be dumb as rocks too, come up with a more interesting lie at this point…
Not exactly?
If they make it work nicely on surfaces that aren’t perfectly straight, you could use it while playing on the couch.
Would be particularly amazing if games support switching between modes instantly, so you could for example be playing a game, open your inventory, slap your joycon on the couch to organize your stuff w/ mouse mode, close your inventory and pick it up resuming play in joycon mode 🤯
Oh you should read the next part
The pandemic gave us an unnatural pop for gaming, where we thought, ‘oh my god, gaming is the biggest thing in the world’. Yeah, when you’re locked down, it is the biggest thing in the world. But in a regular world scenario, you’ve got to combat against all the other distractions that are available to young people. And I’m afraid that we’re not facing that threat head on as an industry.
Motherfuckers see unnatural conditions caused by a once-in-a-lifetime event, think they’re the hottest shit ever, and when the numbers come back to normal levels they see other forms of entertainment as a “threat” that should be “faced head on”.
Lmao. How can an industry be so full of itself?
Steam Deck already does 1, 2 and 3.
Now pair it with constant nags (Enhance your experience by signing into a Microsoft account, Subscribe to Gamepass! Have you tried Copilot???), and Microsoft’s inability to ever add anything new to their controllers (bye bye Gyro and Touchpads) and you’ve lost me.
It would be much easier to use Java mods to do this than wait for a MC recomp, check out Splitscreen Support
I think the only thing that could come close to what you want would be an automation centric app like Tasker or Automate. Neither are FOSS, but they’re really good.
Edit: Found exactly what you need on F-Droid, it’s called HTTP Request Shortcuts.
Lol, same, I’ve played some games at such abysmal resolution it became a testament of how good the art direction was, making it possible to recognize things amidst that jumble of pixels.
Funny how we grow accustomed with what we have. I was hyper-aware of my disk usage when I had a tiny HDD, nowadays I’m like “Why am I low on storage???”, then I go check and find 200GB of junk I no longer need on my downloads folder. Whoops.
Yeah I have, for a looong while. I understand a stable framerate is much better than a “high” one, but like, were not talking about a “Low-end” PC here, we’re talking about the current, still marketed generation here.
How come 30’s still the target when all the marketing is talking about how powerful it is and how amazing the upscaling is? And it’s a fixed target on top of all that, like common man
Never have I ever wanted “Portal 3” to be a thing more than after I played this.
I don’t know how well it would play on the desktop, since it’s reliant on Steam Deck specific controls
Valve actually made the game adapt itself to the hardware present.
I played it on my desktop with a DualShock 4. The game let me use my mouse to write my name instead of touch. When it came to the section requiring the back buttons, it let me use the regular triggers instead. Looking at some YouTube videos, it seems it’ll let you use sticks for aiming if your controller doesn’t have gyro.
The only hard requirement is a controller of some kind, as the game will put up a huge red watermark asking for one if you launch it without one connected, other than that, any standard controller works.
You are not. I’m still sad Croteam dropped the Serious Sam engine for Unreal on Talos 2
